Miami NewTimes reports that enigmatic chef and host of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern is bringing his food truck to sunny Miami, Florida for the Winter season. Apparently, Zimmern will be greeted by a cavalcade of New York retirees for a late dinner at 4:30 p.m. on an upcoming early November afternoon.

South Florida could actually use a little Zimmern zing, and AZ Canteen will be a welcome addition to the Miami street food scene, which is craving a little spice and departure from the typical fare of burgers and tacos. Zimmern has long been a fan of food trucks, and prior to launching AZ Canteen only a couple of months ago, he hosted a rally of them at Food & Wine’s South Beach event.

Zimmern intends to keep with his standard menu, including his favorite, goat sausage grinders. “I love goat and we’re featuring it first and foremost,” said the Bizarre Foods host. The truck will begin serving in Miami when it completes the necessary permitting application process.

Zimmern will make an unspecified number of appearances with the AZ Canteen food truck in Miami throughout the season, including the South Beach Wine and Food Festival’s Trucks on the Go Party.

You can follow AZ Canteen on Twitter @AZCanteen or Facebook.
