As Stitches N Dishes welcomes in an exciting new year, we want to take this opportunity to connect with the loyal readers of our blog, newsletter subscribers, Facebook fans and Twitter followers and to let you know how much we appreciate you, and tell you about the direction that SND is headed in 2012.

If you’ve been following the blog, you’ve noticed that we’ve made several physical changes to the site recently starting with giving Stitch a fresh new look. Our aim is to provide our visitors with a warm, playful and welcoming feel as they interact with us via the site and throughout all of our social media outlets.

Our Mission:

We are committed to providing you with informative articles and poignant interviews, as well as honest coverage of the vendors that we review, because we are dedicated to you having only the best experiences when you go out to spend your hard earned money. With that said, as you read our reviews you’ll find we made a several important changes to the way we rate the mobile food vendors.

Starting last week, at the end each review, we began publishing a brand new scoring system where we rate the trucks in five key areas.

Service, Quality, Price, Menu Selection and Creativity.

We will rate our impressions for each new vendor we review in these five key areas based on a scale of 1 to 5 – with one being the lowest -to- five being the highest, and in some instances we will give half points. To compile our final score we take the individual scores in all five areas, add them together and then divide by 5 to get our final score.

So, as you read through all of the future reviews you’ll see this new rating system including the breakdown on how we based our scores in each of the five areas.

We decided moving forward that it was time to not only educate our readers, but the vendors that serve you by implementing a standard rating system to be viewed as a checks and balances checklist, if you will. We realized that’s it’s not just about the food, but the total experience and we want you to have the best one possible.

We want to hear from you! If you’ve tried a vendor that we’ve reviewed, or have comments or questions about a vendor, submit a comment at the end of the blog post. Maybe you have a suggestion about something to try, or maybe you’ve had a completely different experience than we have. Let it all out, and share your thoughts with other readers. Trust me, we all want to know!

Moving Forward:

Stitches N Dishes was created to be a comprehensive resource created to “Stitch” a link between mobile food vendors (i.e. food trucks and concessionaires) and the people who love to dine at them. Moving forward in the new year our plan is continue to provide our readers with valuable content i.e. reviews and videos that will inspire you to come out and try the trucks we visit week to week.

Creating Interactivity:

We want Stitches N Dishes to be an interactive experience and one way we’re doing this is through a variety of exciting contests where readers have the opportunity to win valuable prizes like our recent iPad2 contests for example.

With that said as we continue to produce and publish new content we’d love it if you share your thoughts on the topics we write about. Many times you will see several opportunties to interact with our content and give you valuable incentives for doing so. For example, we recently implemented a brand new rewards program where we give you an easy way to receive instant points that can be redeemed for gift cards for services like Groupon, Amazon and Zynga!

In the next few days, you’ll also find a new page on the site, dedicated to comments, questions, suggestions or letters to the editor. You can use this page to request reviews of your favorite trucks, carts, stands or caterers, ask questions, or suggest stories and interviews… or just use it to tell us how great we are!

More Contests, Prizes & Rewards in 2012!

Since implementing this program, we have dozens of new blog visitors receiving reward points every single day. 100 of them at-a-time to be exact. So how do you get them?

What’s In Store 2012?

A great deal! For starters, this year we’re launching a new magazine called “The Dish” based on our online newsletter the magazine will be handed out to a thousand plus mobile food specialists at the Western Fairs Association convention this coming weekend in Anaheim California where we will have a booth.

Stitches N Dishes TV (SNDTV) is moving along full steam ahead with more news about that exciting project in the coming weeks. Hint: You won’t believe who we’re in talks with. Unfortunately we can’t reveal anything, at least not yet, so stay tuned.

Speaking of mobile food specialists, next week you’ll see several exciting new programs that we’re rolling out to support the extremely hard working people that create all of the amazing dishes we all love so much.

This is just a small sampling of what’s to come in 2012!

In the meantime we sincerely hope you enjoyed the holidays.

And from Chris Ford, Andrew Nicora and of course Stitch we hope you have a safe, prosperous and Happy New Year!

We also want to take this opportunity to welcome all the new fans, subscribers and followers that have connected with us recently. We’re so glad to have you on board and remember to, Stop Missing What You Could Be Eating…..
