In July, I met up with Nick Nicora, co-owner of Gourmet Poppers at the Alamed County Fair to photograph his menu. We’re printing signs and cut-outs from the image collection.

Nick makes absolutely delicious bite size portions of sausage or ground beef rolled with cheese in the center, then batters them with a garlic basil batter or a creamy corn meal batter. Gourmet Poppers also serves savory sausage link sandwiches, cheese steak sandwiches, and desserts.

Try Nick’s Churro’s with whipped cream, and chocolate and caramel syrup, or my personal favorite, Rolo Filled Churro’s – That’s right, Nick’s wrapped a Churro around a Rolo, and they melt in your mouth! You’ll find Gourmet Poppers in two locations in Cal Expo during the California State Fair. Check his website for other fair ground locations.
